SATEC School Improvement

We are pleased to share our “2014-2016 School Improvement Plan”. This plan is the culmination of a year long analysis of our school practices as they compare to researched best practices in education. There are two overarching goals that our Leadership Team arrived at that will drive the work for the duration of this plan.

 

  • GOAL #1: In order to guide and sustain a multi-tiered system of supports, SATEC will develop an effective, distributed leadership model. Dynamic, positive and productive collaboration among students, families and professionals with relevant expertise is the foundation for effective problem solving and instructional decision-making within a multi-tiered system.This will increase the % of students meeting proficiency in Math from 61%-75% (as measured on NECAP) and in ELA from 75%-80% (as measured on NECAP) both areas will be measured by two assessments SBAC and one other local assessment (this increase in student performance will include a ten percent reduction of the achievement gap between SES and non-SES subgroups in both Math and ELA.)

 

  • Goal # 2 In order to guide and sustain a multi-tiered system of supports, SATEC will develop and implement a research based curriculum, instructional strategies and assessments as the “cornerstone” of all tiers of our intervention system (Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3). This will increase the % of students meeting proficiency in Math from 61%-75% (as measured on NECAP) and in ELA from 75%-80% (as measured on NECAP) both areas will be measured by two assessments SBAC and one other local assessment (this increase in student performance will include a ten percent reduction of the achievement gap between SES and non-SES subgroups in both Math and ELA.)

 

We have included two versions of the plan below. The first version is a more comprehensive. It has information about specific indicators (including our current state) in the following areas: High Quality Instruction, Effective Collaboration, Systemic and Comprehensive Approach, Comprehensive Assessment system and Well Designed Professional Development. The second version is a timeline with a list of tasks that will need to be done in order to achieve our two goals.

 

We have a lot of positives to draw from over the course of the next two years as we embark on a journey to make a good school even better. Lastly, we want to thank the community for their continued support in making SATEC a wonderful place to learn for our students.
